encryption :: essays research papers

Traditional cryptography is based on the sender and pass catcher of a pass knowing and using the same secret come across the sender uses the secret nominate to encrypt the message, and the receiver uses the same secret key to decrypt the message. This method is known as secret-key cryptography. The main problem is getting the sender and receiver to agree on the secret key without anyone else finding out. If they are in separate physical locations, they must trust a courier, or a phone system, or some other transmission system to non disclose the secret key being communicated. Anyone who overhears or intercepts the key in transit can later read all messages encrypted using that key. The generation, transmission and remembering of keys is called key management all cryptosystems must deal with key management issues. Secret-key cryptography often has difficulty providing secure key management.Public-key cryptography was invented in 1976 by Whitfield Diffie and Martin Hellman in o rder to solve the key management problem. In the new system, each person gets a pair of keys, called the public key and the private key. all(prenominal) persons public key is published while the private key is kept secret. The need for sender and receiver to share secret information is eliminated all communication theory involve solely public keys, and no private key is ever transmitted or shared. No longer is it necessary to trust some communication theory channel to be secure against eavesdropping or betrayal. Anyone can send a confidential message just using public information, but it can only be decrypted with a private key that is in the sole possession of the intended recipient. Furthermore, public-key cryptography can be used for authentication (digital traces) as wellspring as for privacy (encryption). Heres how it works for encryption when Alice wishes to send a message to sorrel, she looks up Bobs public key in a directory, uses it to encrypt the message and sends it off. Bob then uses his private key to decrypt the message and read it. No one listening in can decrypt the message. Anyone can send an encrypted message to Bob but only Bob can read it. Clearly, one requirement is that no one can figure out the private key from the corresponding public key.Heres how it works for authentication Alice, to sign a message, does a computation involving both her private key and the message itself the output is called the digital signature and is attached to the message, which is then sent.

Analysis of David Humes Writing :: Empiricists, Empiricism

I was from the beginning scandalised, I must own, with this resemblance between the Deity and human creatures.--Philo David Hume wrote frequently about the subject of religion, much of it negative. In this paper we shall attempt to follow Humes arguments against deism as Someone knowable from the wake He allegedly makes as He passes. This kind of Deism he lays to rest. Then, digging deeper, we shall try our hand at a critique of his critique of religion, of resurrecting a natural belief in God. Finally, if theres anything Hume would like to say as a final rejoinder, we shall let him have his last word and call the matter closed.To allege the occurrence of order in creation, purpose in its theatrical role parts and in its constituted whole, regularity in the meter of its rhythm and syncopations, and mindful structure in the design and construction of Nature is by farther the most widely used and generally accepted ground for launching from the world belief in an intelligent and om nipotent designer god. One does non have to read for very long to find some modern intellectual involved in the analysis of some part of Nature experience to the Aha that theres a power at work imposing order, design, structure and purpose in creation. Modern religious piety salivates at the prospect of converting scientists and will constrict them any way it can. From Plato to Planck the problematic lion of religion must be rendered safe and tame. Religion must be reasonable, after all, we are reasonable men. wiz writes that the scientists religious feeling takes the form of rapturous amazement at the harmony of natural law, which reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the magisterial thinking and playacting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection. We have been struck dumb, however we can no longer be incautious with such temptations to believe, with such sirens sounding for sensible, systematic sureness. The Design Argument has been mortally wounded by David Hume. The god arrived at by arguments on the one-way street of effect to the cause is dead we should neer have allowed him to live. In Section XI of the Enquiry, and throughout the Dialogues Hume subjects the Argument from Design to searching and searing philosophical analysis, to the point in his mind that it is forever dead, and to the point in our minds that we wonder why the world has not yet received the obituary.

The Impact of European Diseases in the New World Essay -- American Ame

The Impact of European Diseases in the New World If science has taught us anything, it is that one event invariably effects countless others. This is no more evident than when a species is introduced into a new environment. Once a foreign species finds itself in new surroundings, it can either die or adapt. Often, these introduced species intromit over the environment, irrevocably changing it to fit their needs. This usually leads to a serious deteriorating in the well being of species currently existing there. Such is the case as when the Europeans introduced themselves to the New World. The new arrivals not only brought themselves, their technologies, and ways of life, but, most disastrously, their diseases arrived as well. When the Europeans crossed the Atlantic, they not only fought and killed many natives they slaughtered countless more without even perspicacious it, signing the death warrants of millions simply by meeting . The real detrimental effect to the Indians was their exposure to the diseases inadvertently brought over by the colonists these most hideous enemies unseeable killers which those men brought in their blood and breath. (Stannard, xii) The effect of these diseases in the New World (and in fact, many diseases have in general) is rather ironic. The pathogens that cause disease argon not out to kill anything, quite the opposite. The whole purpose for anything existing in this world is to pass its genetic material on to offspring. This concept is called fitness. For an being to be optimally fit, it must survive so it can successfully multiply as often as it can, creating numerous kin so that its genes allow for live on generations past its own death. For viruses to live, they need a host. They infect an org... ...Stannard, David, E. 1992. American Holocaust Columbus and the Conquest of the New World.
